James Mcavoy - Mcavoy Denies Hobbit Role


Scottish actor JAMES MCAVOY has denied reports he is to take the lead role in the new movie version of LORD OF THE RINGS prequel THE HOBBIT.

J.R.R. Tolkien's novel is set to be turned into a major blockbuster under the direction of Guillermo del Toro and filming is due to begin in New Zealand later this year (08).

MCAvoy was reportedly favourite to take on the lead role of hobbit Bilbo Baggins - previously played by Elijah Wood in the Lord of the Rings trilogy - while Sir Ian MCKellen will reprise his role as Gandalf .

But MCAvoy denies he has been approached by producers for the project.

He tells TheCelebrityTruth.com, "I'm a huge fan of the Tolkien saga, everything to do with Middle Earth. But no, there's no truth in the fact that they've approached me yet."

Sopranos have SAG Awards hat-trick

The stars of 'The Sopranos' were the big winners in the TV categories at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in the US at the weekend.
James Gandolfini and Edie Falco were named Best Actor and Actress in a Drama Series respectively while the cast of 'The Sopranos' won the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award.
There were two awards for '30 Rock' with stars Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey named Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series respectively.
The cast of the US series 'The Office' won the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series award.
Kevin Kline won Best Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for 'As You Like It' with Queen Latifah named Best Actress for 'Life Support'.
The stunt team on '24' won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.

Rolling Stones agree Universal deal

The Rolling Stones have signed an exclusive recording agreement to release their next album through the Universal Music Group.
The one-album deal, for the soundtrack CD to Martin Scorsese's film 'Shine A Light', is due to be released in March.
It will be released both physically and digitally across Universal Music's labels worldwide and will be released in Britain by Polydor.
The announcement is another to stricken record label EMI, to which the band have been signed in the past.
